German WWII M35 SD Luftwaffe Helmet

Up for sale is a very nice and original German WWII M35 SD Luftwaffe Helmet.

This piece was found in a Connecticut attic, and subsequently looks the part! This helmet has a very natural and consistent patina all throughout the shell. It has never been cleaned but does show a mixture of its original Luftwaffe blue finish with rust. Some cleaning may help show its original color, but we felt it is best to never alter an item. The Luftwaffe decal is nearly 90% complete with very nice yellow toning to match the rest of the shell. The liner is quite stiff and likely was a battle field pick up which stiffened over the years. The liner is somewhat fragile, and is a little dirty from storage.

The most interesting aspect of this helmet is the dome. The shell was original painted with a Goodluck (Glücksklee / Lucky Clover) symbol and initialed M.R. If this wasnt interesting enough, the soldier also added some extra padding to the front liner. This is an original German WWII newspaper.

The news paper is very fragile and falling apart. For this reason we did not unwrap the news paper to see what it reads.
