Up for sale is very nice and original German WWII M35 SD Heer helmet. This German helmet has a great patina, with what appears to be a cut liner. Cut liners were typical of bring back / war trophies, as with used helmets, the leather liner could occasionally have a strong stench. It is very likely that this helmet may have originally been used in combat, and after its capture, this was done.
